Eucalyptus, Shower Melts, congestion comfort

Ingredients

1 cup of baking soda

1/2 cup sea salt or Epsom salt

20-25  drops of eucalyptus essential oil

Water (about 2-3 teaspoons)

Dried Eucalyptus Leaves (optional for decoration)

Equipment

Paper muffin cases

Muffin or cupcake tray

Method

  • Place muffin cases into a muffin tin.
  • Combine the baking soda and salt in a non-porous bowl.
  • Add water slowly, starting with about two teaspoons, and stir well. Continue adding a splash of water at a time and mix until you get the consistency of damp sand. You should be able to squeeze the melt, which holds its shape.
  • Finally, add in your essential oils and mix thoroughly. You can add more or less essential oils depending on preference.
  • Place eucalyptus leaves on the bottom of your muffin case and fill the cases about halfway with the shower melt mixture. Pack each mould tightly to ensure there are no air bubbles.
  • Allow the shower tablets to dry completely before removing them from the moulds (about 48 hours).
  • Store in a mason jar or air-tight container. It is easier to leave the melts in the muffin cases to prevent them from breaking or sticking together. These melts should last up to four weeks.

Position your shower melt on the shower floor, tucked into the corner away from the direct stream of water, to prevent it from melting too quickly. Inhale and reap the benefits.

You can also use other essential oils to customise your shower time.

  • Sage: Promote relaxation
  • Ginger: Reduce nausea
  • Lavender: Better sleep
