A fleshy, clump forming herb with deeply toothed foliage bearing small, dainty white to pink flowers in summer. The dried roots of Valerian were once used as a sedative and pain-killer. This easy to grow perennial plant thrives in moist, rich, well drained soil in a sunny partly shaded position. Ideal for rockeries, cottage gardens and perennial borders. Cut back old flower stems to prolong flowering. Apply mulch in spring and keep moist in dry weather.
