Commonly known as the black walnut, this is a fast-growing tree with a single trunk and a broad canopy. Produces dark-brown edible nuts, this tree is highly valued for its dark timber. Needs good soil which is free draining.

Although it grows to 4m high and wide after approx 5 years, a mature tree can reach 25m tall by 15m wide.
